The M4A2 propelling charge, known as the ‘White charge,’ is designed for use in howitzers with tube lengths of 23, 39, or 52 caliber and chamber volumes of approximately 12, 18, and 23 liters, respectively. It comprises five propellant bags numbered from 3 to 7, each filled with a specified amount of single-base powder tailored to operational needs. Bag number 3, referred to as the base bag, is reinforced with four straps sewn onto it to provide rigidity to the charge when tied at the top of bag number 7. The operational procedure mirrors that described for the 105 mm caliber.
