What began as a textile workshop in a small mountain village in southeastern Spain soon became one of the few industries in the country manufacturing textile articles for the Armed Forces and the Defence industry.

Torrents Defense Support in numbers:

  • Over 40 years’ experience in textile manufacturing for the defence sector.
  • 1.300.000 units produced annually.
  • 100 professionals on our team.
  • +2.000 m2 of current production space.
  • +5.000 m2 in our new facility currently under expansion.

100% European production, carried out entirely in-house under strict quality control, using raw materials sourced from Spain and across Europe.

In 1984, our activity began to focus on cloth bags for propelling charges or projection charges of artillery systems.

Over the past forty years, we have been and remain a regular supplier to national ammunition manufacturers, including Empresa Nacional Santa Bárbara at its plants in Granada (now part of MSM Group) and Murcia (owned by Rheinmetall Expal Munitions), as well as the Unión Española de Explosivos, U.E.E., now known as Maxam and currently dedicated to civil sector activities.

Today, after creating 100 jobs and consolidating our manufacturing process with advanced machinery, we remain committed to quality, attention to detail, and a profound respect for craftsmanship. This is how we approach our work every day, with great dedication.

Legacy: A story woven by family, with heart and determination

Back in 1978, with two young daughters and a strong desire to build something of their own, Vicente Torrents and Isabel Girona made a fresh start in Vélez-Rubio.
Vicente, originally from Badalona in Catalonia, and Isabel, a local by birth, brought together their skills — he a toolmaker by trade, she with experience in both sewing and business — to open a small textile workshop.

They began by sewing “a bit of everything” until, by a stroke of luck, an opportunity came along in 1979 to work with Santa Bárbara in Granada — one of the oldest munitions manufacturers in Spain. That call changed everything. They headed straight to Granada, and so began their journey into the world of defence manufacturing.
It was the first chapter of what would one day become Torrents Defense Support.

More than four decades later, their legacy lives on through their daughters — especially Isabel, the eldest — who carries her father’s drive and her mother’s quiet strength. Isabel and her sister Eva grew up amongst rolls of fabric, the constant hum of machines, and the rhythm of the workshop. It was part of their childhood. And it became part of who they are.

“My husband was a born entrepreneur. We worked side by side — with care, respect, and full commitment.
That’s something our daughters picked up too. And now, at 82, it fills me with pride to see just how far we’ve come,” recalls Isabel Girona, co-founder.

This is the beating heart of Torrents Defense Support:
A family legacy, crafted with skilled hands, rooted in strong values, and always looking ahead.

Over the years, Torrents Defense Support has established itself nationally and is now embarking on a new phase in which it is opening up to new international markets.
